Dear Cobham Park Church Family,
Yes, I tend to overthink things—even with God. Instead of confidently diving into my life with Jesus each day, I often hesitate as I try to understand everything ahead of time. Rather
than simply walking in faith, I’m easily detoured into the endless search for more evidence of God’s presence and direction.
But whenever I try to figure God out, my brain feels as
underpowered as a lawn tractor in the Indianapolis 500.
While we should definitely use the minds God gave us (many don’t do this enough), there are also easier ways of experiencing His reality. We can start by appreciating His little wonders all around us. These can awaken awareness of God better than any logical proof. In no particular order, here’s my own abbreviated wonder-list:
• a baby’s first laughter
• waking to the aromas of fresh coffee and frying bacon
• the moon playing hide-and-seek in the clouds
• mockingbird solos
• the surprising power of forgiveness
• an elderly couple who somehow resemble one another after a lifetime of shared love
• walking barefoot on the beach
• cherry petal flurries in a warm breeze
• a little child’s questions
• the first glimmer of Easter sun
• the faint thunder of a waterfall in the distance
• a well-worn Bible
• the unstoppable persistence of a dandelion
• baptisms—the moment their eyes open
“…The one and only wonder-working God! …All earth brims with his glory…”
—from Psalm 72:18-19 (The Message)
In His Wonderful Life,
Pastor Keith
